Raymond Maxwell Tjampitjinpa was born in 1955 and is the son of George Tjangala and Pantjiya Nungurrayi, both well known artists. Raymond worked for the Papunya Council in his twenties and started painting in the early 1990's.
Raymond's father was one of the early shareholders of Pupunya Tula Artists.
