Born in the area of Pollock Hills, Western Australia, Naata is from the Pintupi Language group from Kintore and is one of the leading Kintore women artists.

Naata Nungurrayi commenced painting for Papunya Tula Artists in 1996. She is the sister of George Tjungurrayi and Nancy Nungurrayi both highly sought after artists.

A respected senior elder, Naata’s artwork is sought after by collectors worldwide. Her works are associated with women’s business (Tingari Cycle). She paints traditional designs depicting sacred women’s sites and women performing sacred women’s ceremonies in the Kintore area as well as the designs that they paint on their bodies when performing ceremonies.

Naata’s paintings are well known for their radiant and richly textured surfaces and bold expressive line work.
